My Husband

I am married.  I have been married for about 6 months.  And I must say it’s been great.  So far, we have filled each other’s life with love and respect.  One day, I shall tell you about how we met and what we’ve gone through but that is for another day.  Lately, I’ve run across a few problems.

When I met my husband we were not of the same faith.  I had been catholic and had recently converted to Christianity (Adventism to be exact) and my future husband (lets call him T) was born and raised Baptist.  Of course, when we met, we were only freshmen in high school and we didn’t think of dating, so we didn’t consider this a problem.  We became best friends and talked incessently, although, only in school.  To get to the point, we started dating after high school and we were married about 2 years later.  Now here is my problem, recently my husband started asking me questions about our faith (He converted to Adventism about a year ago).  I was very surprised.

When T converted to Adventism I was overwhelmingly happy.  It had been a year since we had started dating and I was beginning to realize that I didn’t want to become more serious with someone who didn’t share my faith.  We all know the verse about equal yokes, and I was a firm believer in following the Bible’s guidelines.  Anyway, the point is I think he’s feeling unfillfilled by our church.  And he’s starting to wonder to what point he agrees with the church.  And that worries me.  I have periodically worried about some issues of the church and how they are enforced within individual churches.  I agree with the official beliefs of the church but sometimes they are taken to extremes in local congregations, and that worries me.  I wonder what will happen.  For now, we have committed to studying the beliefs of the church in depth.  As a team both T and I want to discover what we believe.  I pray that God guides us and that we find the truth we so earnestly seek.
