This weekend was the most wonderful all year. First, I got to attend the ECCSF (East Coast Chicano Student Forum), it was completely awesome. The best part was that I got to spend some time with Rocio Beltran. We talked about many things, and I think it was relieving to both of us to be able to relate to someone what our experiences in college and away from home have been. I hope to be able to visit new york sometime before I leave college. There’s always the Fungwa bus that goes to NY to $15. Anyway, the most important thing I heard in the forum was that as latinos in college or in the professional world we need to realize that we will probably have to work harder than anyone else to succeed and besides realizing it we need to be willing to accept it. The many stories we heard were so inspirational and I loved the entire thing. I must say I copped out on Saturday night. It was about 20 degrees outside and tehre was a formal dinner and a dance. I was so cold, and the thought of walking about 40 minutes in some dress with blistering winter wind and temperatures was too much. Sorry Rocio

On another front, I’ve got a dog, or my husband and I do. It is an italian greyhound. It looks something like this…
I’ll post a real picture of him when he’s a little less jumpy. His name is Baggio, like the Italian soccer player (we didn’t name him). He’s crazy cute and so far it’s been great. He’s got very short hair so when we take him out we have to put on these coats so he wont freeze. He is going to be 2yrs old in May. Today was his first day with us, he seems to be adjusting pretty well. He sat on the couch with us and explored the apartment a bit, he ate all of his food. I’m happy. I’ll say more about him, as I learn more about him.
